Chris Kaffer is the Program Director for Innovyz USA, a family office-run business building organically sustainable companies predicated on licensed IP from universities and national labs. Prior to Innovyz, Chris was a successful startup founder/CEO of Mallinda Inc. where, over an 8-year tenure, he built a successful specialty chemical company, commercializing sustainable chemistries for the circular economy. He has received +$4M in federal and state support and was an innovator in Cohort 2 of Cyclotron Road. He has also raised institutional capital via his SABIC Ventures-led Series A. He is a reviewer for the NSF SBIR program, Activate, and Colorado’s Advanced Industries grant program. Chris earned his PhD in Molecular and Cell Biology/Biochemistry from UC Berkeley, and his MBA from CU Boulder.

Heather Rubin is the CEO and co-founder of Rapicure Solutions Inc., a specialty chemical company developing ultra-fast curing, out-of-autoclave engineering resins across a variety of market segments. Heather was the former SVP of R&D for a Colorado-based specialty chemical company, Mallinda Inc, leading the R&D division; designing formulations and technology development pathways, and scaling new chemistries for global Tier 1 and OEM customers. Heather has raised approximately $4M in both state grant funding and private equity to build Rapicure Solutions. She is a reviewer for the NSF SBIR program, Activate, and Colorado’s Advanced Industries grant program. Heather earned her MS in Materials Science at UNC Wilmington, and her PhD at Colorado State University.

Michael Hurowitz is the Founder and CEO of Weather Stream, a Boulder CO based satellite meteorology deep technology company commercializing a global weather data service. Prior to Weather Stream, Michael worked for over 10 years on technology transfer and hardware product development startup and Fortune 500 companies. Michael has worked on over 50 space programs and worked with nearly 200 startup companies as an advisor, founder, and engineer. Michael has been the principal investigator on nearly $20M in federal contracts from NASA, NOAA, US Air Force, US Navy, and US Space Force. Michael has also helped raise over $120M in early-stage funding rounds ranging from pre-seed to Series D companies. Michael has a keen eye for the challenges in transitioning technology from the laboratory to full commercialization. He has a BS in Engineering Physics with a minor in Public Affairs from the Colorado School of Mines.

MORRISSEY

Tim Morrissey is a multidisciplinary entrepreneur with extensive experience both leading and executing alongside small teams. Tim confounded and served as the CEO of Artimus Robotics, a venture-backed, University of Colorado, Boulder spin-out (2018). He led the team to over $5M in combined fundraising and revenue, securing 13 government contracts, over 30 commercial partnerships and shipping over 1000 highly technical physical products. Tim is a reviewer for the NSF SBIR program as well as for Colorado’s Advanced Industries grant program. Tim earned his M.S and Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science track from the University of Colorado Boulder.
